The workshop
For the 2023 edition of the course in Architecture for Heritage at YACademy the workshop dealt with the design of “San Bartolomeo. Il Borgo della Bellezza”: the ancient architectural complex will become the new headquarters of Monacelly Italy and will host an interdisciplinary training and research center focused on the Culture of Beauty in the light of modern neuroscience.
The buildings of San Bartolomeo, located in the complex of the larger Castle of Solfagnano, a marvel of the 12th century with important eighteenth-century contaminations. A magical place, capable of arousing fascination and admiration today as it did 800 years ago, the castle offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside, facing both Perugia and Assisi.
For the year 2023, the workshop of the course in Architecture for Heritage was conducted under the tutorship of Architect Giuseppe Zampieri, founder of the Milan office of David Chipperfield. In more than 20 years of activity, Giuseppe has led numerous international project on different scales, from urban masterplans to private and public buildings, and having the opportunity to listen to his advice and put his teachings into practice was a great opportunity for the students of the course.
